TIP OF THE MONTH

Dry-Set Stone Patio
After carefully choosing the location for your new patio, several steps must be taken to ensure a desirable final result. After moving the excess dirt from the center areas of the patio, a crushed aggregate base should be installed and the stone pieces worked into the base, working from the outside perimeter inward. Keep in mind the patio should be slightly sloped to allow proper run off of surface water. The aggregate should be worked into the crevices of rock and watered in thoroughly. Never use a tamp machine on natural rock to compress it. Use one to compact the aggregate base alone. Also, Quick Crete may be used around the border of the patio to hold it into place (preventing settlement).
